Rule 1 : Read quality materials only

• Stay away from current news/Pop airport sci books
• Read books that have stood the test of time.
• Read books that are recommended by experts or your peer group.
• Read wide diversity of genre.

Rule 2 : Dont read every everything

• Skim liberally.
• Sift through the material at a glance
• Get a general idea about the material.

Rule 3 : Read Fast

Re-Reading > slow reading

• Mark the passages that require a more deliberate re-reading.

Rule 4 : Jot, scribble.

• Marginalia – jot,scribble, draw – Make the book your own.
• The very act of interacting with the material stimulates thinking.

Consolidation

The book/Article is your conversation partner. Question and deliberate the passages that you have marked on your first read.

Write down and collect all the little materials, marked flags etc.

‘Make notes’ – add them to your personal knowledge manager.

Make sure to collect references and and rest citations.

Review

Review the materi
